Welcome to Safe Harbour Therapies
Thank you for selecting my site. I am a registered Hypnotherapist and passionate about the power of the subconscious mind and its ability to bring about change, even for the most challenging of conditions. In safe peaceful surroundings we will work together, through deep relaxation to access the subconscious and re-programme unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. I am also a Midwife offering hypnotherapy for pregnancy issues, hypnobirthing and the postnatal period.

What is Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy has a bit of a bad reputation from TV shows.

But Hypnotherapy is a science with a good evidence base. It is a type of psychological therapy that uses hypnosis to treat mental and physical health conditions.

Hypnotherapists are trained by accredited education providers
and are members of a professional supervising body.

this is what the NHS has to say about it.

"Hypnotherapists
-
lead you into a deeply relaxed state
-
use agreed methods to help you towards your goals – for example, suggesting that you do not want to carry out a certain habit
-
gradually bring you out of the trance-like state – people feel refreshed and relaxed
You're fully in control when under hypnosis and do not have to take on the therapist's suggestions if you do not want to.
If necessary, you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state.
Hypnosis does not work if you do not want to be hypnotised."

Many fears or phobias we have originate from the oldest parts of our brain and are warnings aimed at keeping you safe. These thoughts can get out of control and become compulsions or phobia.

Psychotherapy theory tells us that many of our thoughts and beliefs are formed in our early developmental stages of life. We are largely unaware of the forces that drive our thinking and behaviours.

Trying to change things you have done for a long time can be very difficult and we can all find reasons not to have to do the hard work change.

Hypnotherapy, through deep relaxation that takes you to a trance like state (not unlike times when you have travelled home and can't really remember getting there (even though you arrived safely) - this allows the clever avoidant pre-frontal/reasoning part of our brain to be by-passed.

Here is where the magic happens.
YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND IS ALWAYS LISTENING.
IT EXISTS ONLY TO SERVE YOU.
IT ACTS ON WHAT YOU TELL IT
IF YOU CHANGE WHAT YOU TELL IT
IT WILL ACT ON THAT TOO

The suggestions that we agree on in advance will be given by me and combined with commitment and will power from you, and your mind will work to bring about the change.

If you choose to book me I look forward to us working together on your therapy journey into change.
